English Country Garden

Peter CundallEvery Saturday morning if you tune into ABC Local Radio – 936 at around 9 am you can hear the dulcet tones of Peter Cundall as he talks with Chris Wisby (Weekends Presenter)  and answers listeners questions about gardening.

To begin Peter’s Gardening Talkback, Chris usually players a listener’s version of “English Country Garden”.

Below are two versions that I have submitted, the first is a song and the second is an instrumental.

TASSIE BACKYARD GARDEN

How many kinds of sweet flowers grow
In a Tassie backyard garden?
I’ll tell you now of some that I know
Those I miss you'll surely pardon
Eucalyptus trees and docks
Melaleuca, kale and stock
Foxgloves, perennial peas and tall Holly Hocks
But Peter Cundall’s the man to tell you what is what
In your Tassie backyard garden

How many kinds of little fungi grow
In a Tassie backyard garden?
I’ll tell you now of some that I know
Those I miss you'll surely pardon
Leaf curl in your nectarines
Mildew on your apple trees
Apricots that have a touch of brown rot
But Peter’s Bordeaux mix for these will do the trick
In your Tassie backyard garden

A VERY COUNTRY ENGLISH COUNTRY GARDEN (Instrumental)

This is what the famous tune might have sounded like if Percy Grainger had liked square dancing.
